Courier food items to UAE (Dubai) from India — what's allowed, charges and documents
Rules & rates last verified: 13 July 2026 · by Mrs. Madhu Satija, Managing Director, CargoCharges
Yes — commercially packaged, shelf-stable dry food can be couriered from India to the UAE: packaged snacks, dry sweets, tea, spices, coconut powder and similar sealed dry goods. A food-item surcharge of ₹2,000 applies over the standard parcel rate. Pickles (in any form), dairy, fresh, frozen and meat items cannot be shipped.
The rules that apply
Only commercially packaged, sealed, shelf-stable dry food is accepted — customs must be able to identify contents from the label.
A ₹2,000 food surcharge applies over the standard rate (carrier food-handling and inspection surcharge).
UAE law prohibits pork products and alcohol-containing items in courier freight — including alcohol-filled chocolates.
Pickles are refused in ALL forms, even factory-sealed jars (oil/brine leakage rule); dairy, fresh produce, frozen and meat items are refused as cold-chain/perishable.
Charges: standard rate + ₹2,000 food items premium
Your parcel is charged at the normal UAE rate for its weight — from the carriers that accept food items on this lane (DHL, FedEx, UPS, Self, Prompt) — plus a one-time ₹2,000 handling premium. Worked example: 5 kg ≈ ₹3,600 (Self) + ₹2,000 premium = ₹5,600, excl. 18% GST. Express option: 5 kg ≈ ₹6,149 (CargoCharges.com, 2-3 Working Days) + ₹2,000 premium = ₹8,149, excl. 18% GST. Economy transit: 5-6 Working Days from Delhi dispatch, with free pickup across Delhi NCR.

Food Items to UAE — FAQs
How much does it cost to send food to Dubai from India?
Standard UAE parcel rate for your weight plus the ₹2,000 food surcharge, plus 18% GST on the total bill. For example: 5 kg ≈ ₹3,600 (Self) + ₹2,000 premium = ₹5,600, excl. 18% GST — message us the weight for a live quote.
Can I send homemade food or sweets to the UAE?
Unlabelled homemade food is generally declined because UAE customs requires identifiable, sealed packaging. Commercially packaged sweets (boxed mithai from a branded shop, sealed) are usually fine — share a photo with us before booking and we confirm.
Can I send pickles to Dubai if they are vacuum-sealed?
No — pickles are refused in every form including factory-sealed jars. The oil/brine leakage rule is a carrier-level ban, not a packaging question.
How long does food delivery to the UAE take?
Standard UAE express transit is 5-6 Working Days from Delhi dispatch. Food parcels occasionally get a customs label check that adds a day.
