Yes — sealed, shelf-stable food can be couriered from India to the UK: tea, spices, packaged snacks, dry sweets, chutneys in sealed retail jars. The UK's hard rule is POAO — products of animal origin: no meat, no dairy, no ghee, no khoya sweets from outside the EU. A ₹2,000 food surcharge applies.

The rules that apply

UK POAO rule: meat and dairy products from outside the EU are prohibited in personal parcels — this includes ghee, paneer, khoya-based sweets and milk-powder mixes.
Plant-based dry foods (tea, spices, pulses-based snacks, dry sweets without dairy) are allowed in sealed retail packaging.
A ₹2,000 food surcharge applies over the standard parcel rate.

Worked example: 5 kg ≈ ₹4,170 (Self) + ₹2,000 premium = ₹6,170, excl. 18% GST. Express option: 5 kg ≈ ₹5,668 (UPS, 2-3 Working Days) + ₹2,000 premium = ₹7,668, excl. 18% GST. Economy transit: 6-12 Working Days from Delhi dispatch, with free pickup across Delhi NCR.

Why can't I send ghee or khoya sweets to the UK when the USA allows sealed ghee?

Different regimes: the UK applies the EU-inherited POAO ban on animal-origin products from non-EU countries — dairy included, packaging irrelevant. The USA screens by FDA notice instead. Same parcel, different countries, different verdicts — check per destination.
