What “4–6 Working Days” Actually Means: Courier Transit Times, Decoded

Written by Mrs. Madhu Satija, Managing Director · rates to 220+ countries last verified & updated: | Call 9718661166

Read a transit time correctly and half the anxiety disappears: the printed range counts working days, starts from dispatch out of Delhi (not from your booking call), excludes weekends and destination public holidays, and assumes customs raises no query. Express services run direct flight connections; economy services consolidate freight and trade a slower, cheaper journey for the same door-to-door handling.

How to count the days on a real booking

  1. Pickup day is day zero — the parcel travels to the hub, gets packed, weighed, and manifested that evening or the next morning.
  2. Dispatch starts the clock — the airway bill’s first scan out of Delhi is day one of the printed range.
  3. Working days only — a Friday dispatch to a Monday-holiday destination can sit three calendar days without a single “late” minute elapsing.
  4. Customs is an asterisk, not a promise — the range assumes clean clearance; a document query pauses the clock until answered.
  5. Remote postcodes add a leg — carrier networks deliver major cities fastest; an interior town rides a domestic connection after arrival.

Economy or express — a decision framework, not a speed test

Where to find the real numbers: every rate page on this site prints the current transit range per carrier for that exact route — the tables update with our rate uploads, so quoting them here would only let them go stale. Open your route below and read the transit column next to each price.

Transit time FAQs

Why did my parcel not move for two days after booking?

Booking and dispatch are different events: pickup, professional packing, weighing and manifesting happen before the airway bill’s first departure scan — and the printed transit range only starts at that scan. A weekend in between widens the gap on the calendar without touching the working-day count.

Is express always faster than economy by the same number of days everywhere?

No — the gap varies by lane. Routes with dense direct connections show a small express advantage, while consolidated economy lanes to farther or lower-volume destinations can trail by a week or more. The per-carrier transit column on your route’s rate page shows the current spread.

Do weekends at the destination count in transit time?

No — the range counts working days at both ends. A parcel arriving into a destination Friday evening typically clears and delivers early the following week, entirely inside its printed range.

Can customs clearance be pre-done so transit never pauses?

You cannot pre-clear, but you can pre-empt: accurate declarations, commodity paperwork attached at pickup, and a receiver who answers the carrier’s duty call keep the pause at zero for the overwhelming majority of parcels.
